What was the highlight of The Montcalm Marble Arch

Looking forward to the refurb being completed.

Location is very good, although we originally booked the main hotel approximately a year ago, we were emailed in March/April time, that due to refurbishment we could cancel or move to,the townhouse or Finchley accommodation. I would like a chance to return to the main hotel after refurbishment. That said good location and ladies serving breakfast and the night reception team all very friendly and helpful.

Harder to find than expected, maybe user error? Room very small for 5 star, some tiles missing from shower enclosure and the level of cleaning in bathroom didn’t look great. Water in room looked to be already opened ( reception did replace and gave us breakfast tea bags that were also missing). Bed missing one caster, net curtain hanging off and some dubious stains on the bumper blanket on the bottom of the bed. Overall nearer three star in feel than five!

the bed and the reception.

The shower was difficult to set up, the jacuzzi was not working, it’s not comfortable to step out of the bath.The heating towel was not working i call the engineer to fix it.

Spacious room and large comfortable bed. Location and off street parking was very good

There seemed to be a number of flying insects in the bathroom. No chair to work at desk from and the receptionist who checked be in was difficult to understand because of her accent although she was very welcoming and efficient

Wonderful stay

We originally booked a deluxe double room but on arrival was upgraded to a suite. It was my mums birthday weekend and therefore we were visiting London to celebrate. The staff were very attentive. They decorated the room and provided some complimentary cakes and a bottle of prosecco. The room was really lovely and had everything we needed. The location of the hotel was perfect and was only a 5 minute walk from Oxford Street. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff are the best around, especially Vera(?), Customer Service Manager. She is excellent!

Sandwiches not up to standard in room service during night, but not charged to my bill. Again, excellent. Customer service!

Staff were friendly and very helpful.

The hotel has gone down hill since my last visit • room tired (headboard ripped, shower fixtures broken, bathroom door damaged, walls marked and dented) •room and bathroom not as clean as they should have been (dark hairs on bathroom floor, something spilled on door and not cleaned) •coffee machine in room not working •breakfast disappointing (had to wait ages for coffee and toast, still waiting for waitress to answer my query, buffet style breakfast not 5* standard! Congealed scrambles eggs are never appealing! Menu limited ... no poached eggs, eggs benedict and other standard breakfast choices!)

The coffee was great the staff very friendly and a wonderful experience using the jacuzzi

Room 411 Plug sockets in the room didn’t work, the sink was blocked, the shower in the women’s changing room for the shower facilities was blocked, only one lift operating and finally I asked for an additional flannel to use in the morning however it didn’t arrive!

They had Toilet hose, i have never expected it in Europe. I treasure this feature. As a Muslim cleanning ourself with water is a high priority. I very much liked the luxury Mercedes Benz that took us to airport. The driver Mohammed Ali was a gentleman and had many stories to share :) Also the staff were excellent and very helpful.

I like the boutique hotel state of mind; you do not feel like a number in Montcalm but like you are the very best guest they receive. The staff is always smiling and willing to please.

Room was small but adequate and well equipped, very clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. the restaurant provided a healthy lunch. the staff were friendly.

There was a strange window between the bedroom and the bathroom which was clear glas but this could be opaqued for modesty however, the light from the bathroom shone through so if one guest visited the toilet through the night, the light wakened the other guest. We did not like this unusual arrangement. The staff on reception were slow and did not speak good English and so we were not given clear advice, for instance we did not find the Club lounge. The welcome drink was poured painfully with bottles of pineapple juice not shaken before poured and we had to ask for ice on one of the hottest days of the year!

What was the highlight of The Montcalm Marble Arch

The staff were very nice and polite. The location was excellent for the event we were attending. The bar was a nice modern space if a little bit expensive.

The only negatives I would have are that although everything looks very nice there are some small items that really niggled. These are all first world problems but a bit annoying for a 5* hotel. For example, after the first time our room was cleaned the bathroom was not restocked properly (no shower cap, or moisturiser or toilet paper). in addition the bathroom ventilation wasn't working so walls and floor was soaking wet after 5 mins in the shower. There were also wine glasses in the room that were removed during the clean but not replaced. We asked at reception and it took 1.5 hours and two visits from staff to get 2 empty wine glasses; one visit to check they weren't in the wardrobe (?!) and one 40mins later to bring some. All silly stuff but irritating and not necessary.
